How to Set Mail System with Multi Location
Your company has three branches with different location, however each brach has its own high-speed Internet connection. Currently, all users retrieve their messages by connecting to the primary server. There is a drawback for this approach, which in the morning when everyone start to open their mail client, the Internet bandwidth is fully used because of everyone retrieve their unretrieved messages after they leave the office the day before. Now, is there any better solutions ??

There are several ways of doing this with our beloved MDaemon:

  • MultiPOP
  • DomainPOP
  • AutoForward

Note: Due to complexity of this topic, I am emphasizing on MultiPOP first and will try to revisit this topic to cover the rest in the future.

With MultiPOP, MDaemon in each location will retrieve the messages for each user from the primary server. In summary, we must create all user accounts in primary server, and create respective local user accounts in local servers, then configure the MultiPOP setting for each local user accounts.

    Still under development..
