Mark Russinovich received his Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University in 1994 where his thesis topic was software-based, application-transparent fault tolerance. Prior to co-founding Winternals, Mr. Russinovich was an NT internals researcher for a Fortune 500 company. He further utilized his knowledge of Windows NT working at NuMega, a company specializing in Windows and Windows NT development tools, and at Open Systems Resources, a Windows NT consulting firm. Mr. Russinovich received his undergraduate degree from Carnegie Mellon University and his master's degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

He is now Chief Software Architect and Cofounder of Winternals Software, a company that specializes in advanced system software for Microsoft Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Microsoft Consumer Windows. Mark is coauthor of Inside Windows 2000, Third Edition, (Microsoft Press) with David Solomon. He writes the monthly "Internals" column for Windows 2000 Magazine and also a frequent speaker at major industry conferences, such as WinDev, Software Development, and WinSummit, where he teaches Windows 2000 internals and device driver and file system driver development.
